DORM decorating!

Hello people...

So whose planning on making their dorm rooms look fabulous! (gosh, I sound so valley girl right now... haha)

But anyway, I've been drying to find a list of things we're not allowed to do to our dorm room walls... hopeful that "NO drilling/holes" won't be on that list, but that's highly doubtful :(

So far, I've only thought of decals & 3M Command hooks (which are adhesive hooks that hold up to 5 lbs I think).

THEN, there's that stupid blue tinted cork board or whatever it is... so I can't even use my Command hooks!

Also thought of staple gunning drapes or something to the cork board...

and adhesive mirrors.

Decoration Ideas:
-adhesives (decals & mirrors)
-Command hooks (for adding a shelf or pictures)
-staple gunning stuff...
-safety pin/ thumb tack art

Anyone know the fines for drilling? We could always just fill it at the end of the year :( But that blue board is really annoying.

Any tips for decorating or installing shelves so we can utilize space?!

I have a Unit 1 double btw, so I have a ton of vertical space!! :D

haha I read somewhere that some people fill in holes with toothpaste and don't get caught. or bring some spackle and paint? :-P

the people who used my dorm room left hooks everywhere... and I don't think housing services cared

I used pushpins and left about a cluster of 25 holes and no bill/fine ever came

If your worried about being charged you can use toothpaste to fill in the holes... my roommate used that trick and it looks very clean

The stuff you plan on doing sounds really cool and will make your dorm really unique. It'll definitely catch people's eyes, but be careful in your decorations/colors so you don't pick any "threatening" designs/colors so that people feel really welcome and want to come in the room. But then again, this is Berkeley, where you're encouraged to express yourself freely.

Maybe it's a guy thing, but I only put up a few posters in my dorm. Here's how my Unit 2 double looked:
