I'm freshman, and i get accepted as Early Decision.
I'm wondering about dormitory between Hayden and U-hall.

Since i'm international student, i think i might need dorm w/ kitchen in order to cook my own food(sometimes). But i heard that U-hall is far from Silver center which my CAS classes are held(i hate walking). Also, even though U-hall is big, i don't want to live with 4 people in one suite, which is a lot.

I also heard that Hayden is the best choice for freshmen.
But i guess that it would be stuffy to have a space for two people without living area or kitchen. But i like Hayden because it is closer to classes.

It's really hard to pick one.
How do you guys think about it?
And, is there any possibiliy to get 1-person room in Hayden as a freshman?
(like 3 person in a suite, 2 ppl per a room, 1 person per a room)

if you're not ED and not doing an exploration you're not going to get hayden and no, there are no singles for freshmen in hayden

if you want a dorm that is close do an exploration at goddard or go with weinstein. The whole making your own food in uhall....if it's smelly ethnic food your suitmates are not going to like you very much - just putting that out there.

i AM ED, and i'm not thinking about the other dorms. do most of freshmen participate the exploration? i guess i can do it in hayden and Uhall.

If you hate walking then don't do Uhall. It's not a far walk, about ten minutes but I don't mind walking. Uhall is not crowded at all with 4 people in a suite. I barely ever see my suite-mates...plus having a common room is really nice if you need to study or get away from your roommate. Hayden is nice because it's social, so if you want a social dorm don't pick Uhall. Although having a kitchen is really, really nice...I don't even have a meal plan, and I save a lot of money on food. And there is no way you're going to get a single as a freshman. The majority of freshman don't do explorations, but a good amount do.
So really you just have to decided which aspects are more important to you!

note that firewalker lives in Hayden right now

can you request your roomate at NYU? my friends and i want to be able to dorm together

yeah you can room together

None of the freshman dorms are too far from where your classes will be. Look. You're in New York, you'll be walking almost EVERYWHERE, so if you hate walking that much, NYC might not be the best place for you (but oh wait you're ED so I guess its too late for that xD).

Anyways, the rooms in Uhall are usually 2 bedroom w/ 2 person in each bedroom, so it's kinda like a traditional dorm in that sense, but you get a kitchen and living space.

Hayden may or maynot be the best freshman dorm, depending on what you like. Even though Hayden might be the most social, I dont think that means the other dorms are necessarily anti-social.

I think one of the dorms also has a communal kitchen downstairs, but I forgot which one it was...

Yes, I am currently living in Hayden. I'm telling you man, go for uhall.

How much does Uhall cost in comparison with the other halls?

oo thanks for the link firewalker! very helpful

I'd say Uhall. For the Kitchen. Although depending where you're from, they have quite a variety of foods in the dining halls. And like someone else said, Goddard Hall and Weinstein Hall are closer to Silver Center than Hayden.
