Dorm help???

I'm transferring from a CC to WPU with 18 credits already transfered over, but I have 12 more coming over from this fall which would make me a sophomore when I transfer in this spring. So will I have to room with sophomores or freshmen?

Go to the University website…there isn’t a single set of rules that every University follows when it comes to that stuff. At my school anyone that has ever attended a post secondary institution is considered a transfer student and doesn’t dorm with the freshman. My guess for you is you won’t dorm with freshman.

^I dormed with a freshmen as a transfer student at my school, and I was three years older than her. At my school there appears to be no rhyme nor reason behind the roommates they put together.

To add to that, I strongly suggest a single or off-campus housing to avoid the possibility of rooming with a freshman as a transfer student if it a very likely possibility at your school, as it is at mine. It seems many freshmen remain in a high school mentality for much of their first year which can be extremely irritating to an older student who has to live with them. I assumed we would have a lot of the newbie stuff in common given that we were both new to university life, but the age difference was glaringly obvious in all of our interactions. If I could do it again I would have only roomed with an older student.

I probably wasn’t very much fun for my younger roomie either, for that matter.

I’m assuming William Paterson University? My brother goes there!

Dorms that house Freshmen through seniors:
Century Hall
Hillside Hall
Overlook
White Hall

Dorms that house mostly Freshmen:
High Mountain East (also houses those in Honors College)

Dorms that house upperclassmen:
High Mountain West
Matelson (must have at least 58 credits and are 20 years of age)

So anything is possible. If you try to get housing at High Mountain West, you might not be placed with a freshmen. I think in general they place you with someone who is not a freshmen since freshmen are placed together. I don’t really know how the situation is at WPU is, but I know at my school a transfer student is usually placed with a sophomore or higher.

I’m a junior right now and I’m dorming with a senior. It’s not bad dorming with a younger person. They might be more mature and respectful than people who are at your level or higher. Ive come across several immature upperclassmen >.<

WOW Thanks sooo much MushaboomBlue Could you ask which dorm he thinks is good to stay in.
