I haven't been able to find a website with dorm pictures. Any advice about the dorms?

I may have one kid as a freshman, and one as a law student so I also need to know about the grad dorm. My law student was told that they have doubles, small singles, and large singles for the law students. Any idea what the dimensions are (trying to figure out the best value)? Are the grad student dorms open over holidays?

That website has a ton of information on residence halls.

For your freshman son/daughter, I would recommend the south complex. It has Holden, Wonders, Wilson and Case (reserved for James Madison students) all in here. The dorms are made up of mostly freshman with some upperclassman mixed it. They all have a great location (close to the sporting facilities & center of the campus) and they also have suite style rooms meaning two rooms share one bathroom as a opposed to a community bathroom where a whole floor shares a bathroom. Holden is newly renovated and looks awesome.

If your son or daughter prefer to be in a an all freshman type of environment, then Brody would probably be the better choice. Most freshman are placed in these dorms. The location isn’t terrible, but it can get a bit crazy. There is also no suite style rooms–just community style. The Brody neighborhood also have one alcohol free dorm and an all quiet dorm if that is something your child prefers.

I wouldn’t recommend East neighborhood at all. Although the dorms are really nice, it has a terrible location that can be troublesome for a freshman getting used to the huge campus.

For your grad student, they have Owen Graduate Hall. It’s open year round and has a great facilities for an older student. Its going to be undergoing a major interior renovation over the summer so I’m sure it’s going to look great. The link I posted about has a ton of information regarding Owen Graduate Hall.

Thank you so much!
