California college. That's all you need to know.
Dorming
Currently a soon to be senior once school begins.

Now...

Do I need a ethernet cable to access internet in dorms (majority) or is wireless internet available?

(possibly going to attend Cal Poly Pomona or SJSU or Cal Poly SLO (slo if i'm lucky).)

So yes ethernet cable or no ethernet cable?
If so, how long would you recommend me to get?

Thank you!

At my school, there is wireless internet in dorm lounges and in some entire dorms, it sucks though. There’s ethernet in all the rooms though and it’s pretty fast.

I think it’s better to have an ethernet cord than not, just in case.

I don’t know the specific schools, but 30 feet should be plenty (I would think, anyway).

30 feet is about right. My ethernet cord was long enough to stretch across the room and outside a bit.

This is usually something they’ll tell you once your actually given a housing assignment. I think you’ll be fine until then.

I wouldn’t go longer than 30 feet btw. I had 50 feet and it was a huge pain considering I didn’t need my cord anywhere but in my room.

I had 50 feet and needed it to get from the wall to my couch. It had to loop around some furniture because the ethernet thing in the wall was placed in the most moronic fashion possible. Last year it was even worse and the ethernet was across the room from all the power outlets and we needed to tape them along the edge of the ceiling to get them to the desks.

Don’t know why this is something you would consider so far in advance. I brought a little ethernet cable with me to school because I knew I’d need one either way, and ended up buying a longer one when I saw how stupidly my room was designed.
