Dorm Photos?

You're welcome!

IN terms of "best" location, it depends on what you want- Weinstein, Hayden are right near Washington Square Park- Rubin is close too, as is Goddard (I think).....Brittnay is on 10th and Bway, Uhall on 13th btwn. 3rd and 4th Ave, and 3rd North is on 11th street and 3rd avenue- 3rd North and Uhall are about a 10 minute walk to the park....

I've never had an issue with noise in 3rd North- except for the students in the courtyard at the beginning of the year- that's no longer an issue, though.....
You are in NYC so the noise is what it is- yet, you really do not notice car horns, etc after living there- I don't, at least....

All the dorms have convenient access to places- I love the walk from 3rd North to my classes that are in the WSP area- plus, the area I am in is very close to Union Square, which is awesome too. It all depends on where you want to be....but anywhere you end up, you'll easily access anywhere you need to go.....

There are 2 gyms- Palladium and Coles- Palladium is right next to Uhall (also close to 3rd North/Brittnay)....and Coles is on W 3rd near Mercer St (this gym is closest to the park and therefore the dorms around there).....in my opinion, Palladium is MUCH nicer- newer, cleaner.....

They do have a cafeteria in 3rd North- I think they used to have one in Uhall, but it's closed this year- I don't know about next year- of course, Palladium is right next door, so it's literally a 2 second walk if it is closed- I do not have a meal plan because I cook all of my food, but plenty of people in apartment style do have meal plans...I would go for a smaller one, though, if you are planning to use your kitchen at all- otherwise, it's a huge waste of money- a lot of my friends in apartment style wasted hundreds of dollars on unused meals this semester, and GOD knows NYU has enough of our money already......Just FYI: If you live in apartment style, you do not need a meal plan but if you live in traditional, it is required- if you do not purchase a meal plan, you can use Campus Cash to buy meals if you feel like eating in a dining hall (but it comes to something crazy like $8.50/meal, so use caution!)

I don't really plan on cooking first year. Will Hayden be the best choice out of the other resident halls? I want to meet new people and be close to my classes which will probably be in Tisch hall and silver the first year.

hayden is off da hook.

i guess Hayden it is then.

Congratulations to all of you Early Decision-ers. My D was accepted Early three years ago and I remember how happy she was. :) The discussion about dorms comes up every year, now and in April. Here's a post I made in a thread earlier this month with some informative links. Have a look and see if it answers your questions. What you should know, though, is that there is no 'perfect' or 'best' dorm. As I said in that post, you're going to find happy students AND unhappy students at each and every dorm, and also, the dynamics of any dorm will change year to year depending on who's in it. Good luck to all of you!

Scroll down to post # 7.

i'm in an explorations program at hayden. it's neat because we have a much larger budget than other floors, so we get to do things, like for instance, 6 of us went to the village vanguard with the faculty member associated with our floor. drinking scotch and red wine with the professor at the vanguard, on NYU's tab= priceless.
but also, my floor, which i won't name, is a huge pot smoking floor, and i don't smoke, so be careful if u do explorations that you are pretty sure you'll get on with the types of people that might apply.

the rooms are large. mine has a 3 closets, a big storage space that fits another mattress. we have 4 people including myself, 2 bedrooms. A rooms are generally larger than B rooms i think. i'm in the A room.
hayden is pretty fing convienent in terms of proximity to classes. and slyvia, the woman who works in the cafeteria is who adam sandler based his song on. she's awesome.
