Dorm Profiling

Hey guys, can any current AU students give us a basic overview of the different residence halls?

Like:
__= party hall
= really quiet
etc
etc
But with a little more detail.

Something of that nature would be great for us prospective students to get a feel of what life in the different residence halls is like.

Freshman dorms this year were Letts, Anderson, Clark, and Roper on the South Side and then Hughes on the North Side of campus.

Hughes is the Honors dorm and since I am not in the Honors program nor have I been in Hughes, I cannot really offer any insight. Overall, North Side of campus does tend to have the reputation of being quieter than South Side.

Clark and Roper are newer dorms that house several of the University College living-learning communities. They are smaller and do not have the built in cabinet space that Letts and Anderson do.

Anderson and Letts have similar set-up and room design. However, Anderson was recently renovated and is perceived as being a lot nicer than Letts. Anderson and Letts both have six floors of residents and Letts houses University College students.

Life in the residence halls is really what you make it. If you want to party, you can find a party. If partying is not your thing, you definitely can find other people to hang out with.

Some news about housing–not sure these are options for freshman

I can second what ebrincka said, but if you want to join the Honors program but want a lively scene then don’t be deterred. Anderson and Letts and conjoined, are similar in layout and they have the largest population of freshmen students. Anderson has much nicer bathrooms and lounges.

It definitely depends on the floor, NOT HALL, for the vibe–BUT overall Anderson is a bit more of the party hall although Letts is equally loud.
