Does anyone know if we are allowed to have a friend stay with us overnight in our dorm room?

When I stayed at the townhouses with the Red Carpet Society I know my host said her boyfriend had just left after being there all weekend.. So I'm guessing he was allowed to stay overnight in the townhouse.

i hope it's not an exception for the townhouses... that would suck.

I hope it's not an exception either.. i really want some of my friends to come stay when I go to Cornell

I agree! Oh well, we could always get a room with them at the Statler? LOL

unless your roommates/suitmates say no, they can usually stay for about 3 days. good to have a single in this case :-D

i stayed in my brothers triple for 3 days with him. The key is to make sure u make sure u make friends with the roomates and dont **** them off. I dont think anyone at the school was notified that i was there and we used his guest passes at the caf. but could've just as easily walked right in

this is a co-ed college in america guys
haven't u watched American Pie II?

Haha yeah I have.. but still, there's always that fear that there's a 2-night limit for guests or something. I guess there are benefits to having a single.

What Cornell doesn't know doesn't hurt them :)...who needs to find out how long your guests have been there ne ways...as long as u have a cool roomate, I'm sure no one will make a big deal about it

True, true. I can't wait to invite friends to come stay at Cornell; I know they are going to fall in love with the campus.. at least, I think my love for the school will spread to them through my constant mentionings of the school.. :)

Haha I know! I am totally trying to sell all my friends who applied RD. How could you not be incredibly happy living at Cornell? The campus is breathtaking..

You guys crack me up.

This thread is so "high school."

Which isn't your fault, because you are still in high school! A year ago I would have been asking the same questions.

However, after a semester at Cornell, I've learned a lot. And the answer to any question that begins with "are we allowed to..." is "Yes."

Cornell doesn't give two craps what you do. There are no curfews, no dorm searches, none of that kiddie junk. At Cornell, you are a grown-ass man or woman, and you can do whatever you want. They assume that if you are intelligent enough to attend an Ivy League school, then you deserve absolute freedom. They realize that this is the ****ing real world, and that you are adults. For example, despite that fact that it is not legally required to, Cornell seems to stick to the Constitution when it comes to protecting individual rights. That's right, Cornell really does respect the 4th amendment. Even if it's illegal, just keep it on the down-low, don't attract attention, and you will be fine. No one will come knocking on your door and asking to search your room unless you make it known that something sketchy is going down.

So yeah, the only problem with friends coming over would be roommates getting annoyed. But this usually doesnt happen, so you will most likely be in the clear.

Perro is right; cornell doesnt give a damm what you do as long as you keep paying that tuition. As long as your roomate is cool, you can have anyone stay over.

someone told me this, i am not sure if it is true, nor have I gone to research it if it was true, but he's a senior (and thus must know everything, right?):

if you are over 18, and your parents sign a permission slip?/letter saying you can drink, your "parents" can buy you alcohol, and you CAN drink it in your dorm room, even if you're under 21 (granted you don't have a roommate under 21)...

he said it was an "obscure" law, but it sounded too good to be true. so, iunno.

Drinking is not allowed in the dorms. Not that it isnt done, but its TECHNICALLY not allowed. Fact of the matter is that if you're under 21, its illegal anyway.

drinking in the dorms--not a good idea. I got written up the 3rd day I got on campus by my RA

visitors -- my friend who got screwed over by getting thrown in Risely slept over my room literally for 2 months straight. my boyfriend stayed over, my roommate's boyfrien stayed over...more random people stayed over...does that answer your question?

Babe, what dorm are you in?

donlon baby

It's technically 2 nights or something, but no one really cares if you have guests etc. Drinking in the dorms is not a good idea though!
