What floor of donlon?

D5!!! where the party never ends

Is there any way to request which building you want to dorm in?

Nope, unless you are joining a program house of course.

are there phones in the dorms? are we solely relying on cell phones? lol.

There are phones. It'll cost you though to make non-local calls.

Which company gets the best service in Ithaca? I currently have Verizon, which works great in NYC, but AT&T used to be better here in Jersey..

Verizon, despite what the people working at the AT&T kiosk at Pyramid Mall say...

My Nextel got good service when I went up there

Verizon is by far the best.

North Campus is not that great for ANY service, and inside the dorms is hard for anyone, but Verizon is the most stable. I can get service in my room with them, though if I go into the middle of the hall, it HAS cut off, but theres usually a bit even there. One of my friends who doesnt have Verizon has to practically stick her head out the window if she wants to use her cell inside.

damn! how's cingular, anyone know?

my bro goes to cornell and he had an ATT cell. reception was so bad he had to get a verizon. so you should consider verizon, or at least not att

Cingular is the other good one. Verizon is the best, with Cingular being the definite second. AT&T should (theoretically) be at least decent now too, though, because of the merging with Cingular.

how does nextel rank?

how do the dorm phones work? is it like one per room? or one per floor?

one per room. nobody ever really uses them unless the person you're calling is on campus and you know they're in their room or...if you ordered food the delivery guy will call your room phone when the food gets there

wow so much info about cornell. I'm in heaven. And to the original tune of this thread: thank god for independance; it'll be nice to lose the overbearing power of the parentals.

what are the pros and cons of donlon, mews, and court?

Donlon is absolutely insane and no one ever goes to sleep. It's know as the party dorm of north campus. I just discovered right before break that there is such a thing as "quiet hours" in the dorms...that idea is completely foreign to my floor. But anyway, it is impossible to study in your room in Donlon...it's way too loud and theres always music blaring and people yelling or something. Also, the rooms in Donlon are typically a little smaller and closer together, as Donlon is the biggest freshman dorm. BUT we have our own mini movie theatre on the first floor! and our own mini library. and a huuuge study lounge (the morgue), and we have 6 floors and our closet doors are detachable and the perfect size to lay across the tops of our chairs and make them into beer pong tables....and our building is shaped like thong, beat that. bottom line: Donlon is the *****

Mews/Court are awesome because of the modern design. They were just newly renovated a few years ago and they really are pimped out. Typically, every 4 people have their own little bathroom as opposed to Donlon where the entire floor shares 3 big bathrooms. The rooms are air conditioned though in the fall (and end of spring?). It may sound stupid, but you'll be thankful for it when you're actually there. When it disgustingly hot and all you have is a little fan in your room, it sucks. I think me and my roommate have border line tackled each other for the fan. Mews/Court are a lot more laid back and chill than Donlon, but bigger and nicer looking rooms and overall nicer appearance
