Hello! I received my dorm assignment a few days ago and I have been placed in Soto in Wilbur Hall. Do any current students have any info about what the dorms are like in Wilbur, or more specifically, Soto? The floor plans online indicate that there are no closets, is that true? Also, are full length mirrors provided or do I need to bring one? Any more information about what the dorm will be like or the general experience of living in an all-freshman dorm would be greatly appreciated!

There aren’t any built-in closets, but there are wardrobes in each room that have a decent amount of space. I’m not sure about Wilbur, but I lived in Stern Hall and my room had a pretty long mirror. It wasn’t full length but it did the job.

All-freshman dorms are a lot of fun and there’s a super tight sense of community. I’m pretty sure most people in Stern/Wilbur have one room doubles. It’ll take some time to get used to the living situation (roommate, shower, etc) but it’ll all work out. The dorms have lounge spaces where people usually hang out and at least for the beginning of the year each dorm will have a table in the dining hall that they sit at.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Housing changed a lot since I was a freshman. Now a days basically only freshmen live in Wilbur. It is really fun from what i’ve heard. You get a wardrobe as the previous poster said and there are full length mirrors behind the door. You will have fun. Don’t worry about it. :)

Don’t bring a full-length mirror. If you think you need one, they are sold at the bookstore for 10 dollars.

Soto was recently renovated, so look forward to relatively new and clean bathrooms. I’m not positive about the arrangement, but if I recall last year there was a boys floor, girls floor, and co-ed floor. No idea which was which.

Your RFs, if they are the same this year, are stricter than most. That said, it should still be a lot of fun!

That said, the Soto RFs have a Jack Russell puppy named Layla!
