If I get up at 5 a.m. on the first day of the housing contract and use 3 different computers to see which one works the fastest-- do you think there is any way I can get the dorm type I want? (I really like the four-person single because I will still have roommates and we share a bathroom but also I’ll have my own space)
I am open to location, I like College Ave and I like Dogwood/Galena and North/South. (I’m a journalism major)
Also, how does the housing process even work??? Thanks in advance!
@kidacat You should be able to get into the room type that you want. You just follow the ROAR instructions. It allows you to indicate which dorm in which you want to attend, if there are openings in that dorm, then it lets you choose the room type (e.g. single, double), then you can select the floor that you want, and eventually the exact room that you want. My DS has been able to get the same room three years in a row with no problem.
Thank you so much @CoMoMom ! That makes me feel so much better!
@CoMoMom any suggestions on how to navigate the process if you are the LAST to pick since your ding dong daughter did not apply till November… we are dead last… she has a housing contract (which I have heard is a good thing) but I am thinking private room or even suites will be long gone by then… just hoping for the engineering fig or TLC… what are our chances?
@jokerdog I did the same thing… applied in early november… and I’m not a “ding dong”. Many colleges don’t even have their application open until November and I had NO IDEA that when I submitted my application it would have any effect on my housing. I emailed the housing people and they said that, yes, it is slim pickings, but there were over 2000 cancellations so at least check once a day for an opening if your daughter does not get the one she wants (or you want…) then there is still a chance to get it. My friend that attends Mizzou also got the exact dorm she wanted on the “third or fourth day” (her words). So it’s definitely the luck of the draw as the engineering major is widely celebrated at Mizzou, but not impossible by any means.
