So I just went to explore usc and got to see all of the dorm styles and now I’m more confused then ever! Birnkrant was originally my #1 but I have kind of decided not to live there because I want to interact with many different students, as opposed to just scholarship recipients. I know that that is still possible, but you definitely meet a lot of people in your dorm, and I want to venture away from just super geniuses (I’m most likely going pre-med so I’ll still meet super geniuses in my classes!). Anyways, I really liked Pardee when I visited and I like the fact that Marks Tower has a great outdoors floor (I’m very active and I would love to be a part of that). So I would be very grateful if anyone could share their insight on these dorms! Thank you!
I think it is wise to search for a more varied environment. It is true that Birkrant is mostly scholarship/aid students, so it is a more one dimensional environment socially. It is awesome that you want to enrich your experience in college by looking for something different and new. In any dorm you may need to find study coves in the building which frankly, mine did at any dorm they were at. They found it easier to study out of their room for serious study time. Hopefully some students will chime in on Marks Tower and Pardee, I have never heard anything bad about them and generally think they are good choices…the outdoor floor option sounds cool. Check some old housing threads, there may be more on them.
