So now that housing assignments are about to come out, I just thought I'd open this up to any upperclassmen who have stayed in particular Freshmen dorms...

Specifically, I heard that some Freshmen are housed in VCE... do the top floors tend to be really separated from lower, upperclassmen floors? Also, what's the deal with the X, Y, and Z wings in Village C?

Any hints on how to make the most of space (especially closet space?) If anyone has any dorm pictures that are recent, that would be amazing! I am so excited for the fall! (:

The freshmen who are housed in VCE do tend to be on the top floors (I had a few friends on the 8th and 9th floors and they did have a couple upperclassmen transfers but it is rarer).

If you already found out your dorm, then I could tell how to make the most of it…but in general…if you’re in New South you can move your bed up pretty easily and store stuff underneath it. I was in Harbin, and found the huge closets really useful, but especially with rubbermaid storage containers stacked inside. I had more than enough room for everything and I’m a girl. I’d recommend rubbermaid containers for pretty much any dorm - or under-bed containers.

I don’t know why they are separated into X, Y, and Z, but X and Y are in VCW and are separate from VCE which is just the Z wing.

There was a leak in the housing sites so I’m pretty sure I am one of the lucky Freshmen in VCE… I’m really nervous to be in the supposed “anti-social” dorm… and in being in a semi-separated area from majority of the Freshmen. Also, the closets leave so much to be desired, so I’m really nervous about closet and storage space… I definitely plan on using underbed space but don’t know what else to do (I tend to get pretty claustrophobic as well… lol)

Some of the rooms are decently big. One of my friends on the 9th floor of VCE had a high ceiling which was very nice. I feel like you meet people from clubs and through other friends anyway, and I think my friends in VCE did talk to their neighbors even if they weren’t necessarily best friends. Plus, you do get your own bathroom (even if you have to clean it)!

I think the Container Store will become my new best friend, to be honest with you. Ahh that’s awesome! I’m on the 9th floor as well! A high ceiling would be really nice, actually. The bathroom is definitely a plus, though it cuts into room space but I’m good about keeping things neat so it works for me.
