hey i was wondering if any 2nd+ years have any advise about this,
is it better to room with a high school friend or to go random?
oh and also, if you room random does uci give u a more detailed roomate questionare? because i saw the one that they have and its like a total of 3 questions "any physical limitations, smoke?, will u live with smoker?" the end

One of my pretty close friends from high school wanted to dorm with me but I said no. It was for 2 reasons, mainly because I wanted to potentially meet someone new who could become a really great friend, and second because this one friend really didn't seems like the type of person who I could get along with as a roommate (which I definitely found out in our apartment 2nd year). Well my roommate didn't turn out to be my best friend, or a friend at all but we got along and made it thru the year. I do think in most other cases it'd be really cool to live with someone who is already a good friend of yours. Takes a lot of pressure and apprehensiveness out of the whole experience.

And I don't remember a whole bunch of specific roommate questions other than the ones you mentioned so i'd have to say probably no.

I think if they're a good friend, then give it a shot. But if they're just some guy you kinda knew from high school, you're probably better off rooming with a random person.

And that questionnaire is the same regardless of who you're rooming with.

My roommate is someone i barely know from my high school, so i'll let you guys know how it goes.
