Last year it was pretty quick. My son got his application in around the first of November. Seems like we got the contract about a month later.

As a freshman in jester west with a suite style bathroom it is not so bad, in fact i would recommend it. Jester’s rooms are not noticeably smaller than any other room, that is a lie, i have visited friends in littlefield- and those rooms are the tiniest things i have ever seen (even if they do have a walk in closet). otherwise san jac is the best dorm overall, as it is close to the pcl, j2, jcl, the stadium, and has a pretty good little cafe downstair , but getting san jac is very unlikely as a freshman unless you apply basically the first or 2nd day of housing, also, as a side note athletes oftentimes get first dibs on redone floors in jester and san jac in general

UT Housing posted on a different thread they they will begin sending out contracts today. None have been sent prior to today as they are still waiting on their rated for next year to be approved

does anyone know when current UT students will get to pick what dorm to live in for fall 2010? and do we get first pick of dorms over freshmen or vice versa?

The applications for people who are living in a dorm right now are already out for fall 2010. You can go online and fill out an application, I believe the deadline is January or early February. basically, you do get choice over freshmen I think but it all depends on the date you sent in your applicaiton last year. If you apply early this year, you won’t be higher on the list. It all depends on last year.

oh my bad maybe it is just floors 4-6 for some reason I thought they fixed up the others as well but I guess they didn’t (I think they are planning to, though)

I would recommend living on campus as well to any Freshmen. I definitely will be off campus next year, but for my first year it is great to be near everything on campus, especially for the first few months while I was getting to know where everything was and to give you time to learn what the good off campus places are to live for the next few years.
