Dorm recommendation

I need to apply for housing for fall 2012 (freshman.) My top three selections are Lakeside, Beaty, and Springs. I really like Lakeside, but I've heard that it's very far from everything. Will the distance be a problem? What is the best dorm out of these three?

Lakeside is nice but honestly it’s too far. You’d have to walk a lot to class or have to take the bus all the time. I’m not sure about Springs but I think it’s the athlete residence hall, it might be way more social than Beaty and Lakeside though. Beaty is nice too, except the bathrooms are kind of ghetto…

lakeside is the nicest. springs is also much nicer than the older dorms, but its a lot closer than lakeside. beaty is just a taller version of older dorms, but with a different floorplan. if you’re going for nice, go for springs.

Beaty is ridiculously antisocial, but really nice, and rather close to everything. Lakeside is wayyy to far away. If you forget something at your dorm and you live in lakeside, you’re screwed

Beaty is probably one the nicest dorms here. The antisocial thing is up for debate, but besides you can make PLENTY of friends here that aren’t on your floor so its ok

Yea our floor is antisocial, but you can meet TONS of people on the Beaty elevator rides if you find something you both like to complain about :D

Springs. It’s right across the street from Frat Row. It’s nice, clean. Short (I MEAN SHORT) bus ride to the hub and classes. (or even better, WALK)

Don’t do Beaty, too isolated.
LakeSide… SUPER ISOLATED. My friend absolutely hated it out there!

Beaty is NOT isolated! It’s like 5 minutes away from most classes and like 2 mins away from Broward Dinning. Its in a pretty decent location. Unless you’re into the Frat scene or like to party, you’re not gonna like Springs too much being that Frat row makes A LOT of noise.

Lakeside on the other hand…we call that Africa since it’s so Far

Lakeside : Campus :: Earth : Sun

I meant beaty is isolated in the sense you don’t get to meet people.

^^I concur. I have few friends :(

That’s cuz I’m an electrical engineer though haha :D

I really don’t understand how you meet more people in other dorms, like Broward. It’s not like you’re going to strike up a life changing conversation in the bathroom.

HAHA. I’ve met people in the lounge in the hall, etc. One of my closest friends is a girl I met in the Reid Lounge over the summer.

I live in Beaty now and I love it. The kitchen is a HUGE asset and having your own bathroom is really nice.

Lakeside is not anti social at all. There are always events going on over there and everyone who works there is so nice and awesome. I lived there over Summer B and had a blast! the bus rides arent bad either. They’re almost always on time and come every 15 minutes so if you miss a bus its not the end of the world.

Springs is also really nice but a lot of the athletes live there and are busy with practice so meeting friends usually isnt the easiet
