This may be a trivial question, but how large are the provided desks in the dorm rooms? When doing school work, I constantly find the need to have a second monitor attached to my laptop. Is there enough desk space to accompany a medium sized flat panel monitor, my laptop, and whatever various school books, etc?

You might need to keep your school books on a separate shelf, but it should definitely be large enough for your laptop and second monitor.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, didn’t expect to store all my books on my desk. But rather have a couple open books that I would be using at that particular moment.

To be honest, I just use my desk to store clutter, so I never really noticed how large is was. But the fact that it can store all my clutter is a testament to its size.

There’s generally a little shelf thingy below where you can keep some things, but it’s not convenient to use if you keep your laptop on your desk. Still, if you’re okay with shuffling around a bit while you study, you should be able to keep everything you need nearby.

My desk (in sny-phi) had a pullout extension attached to make the desk longer? So it would definitely hold multiple books, 2 computers etc. I’m not sure about other dorms.

One more question:

Are the desks designed in such a way that I could secure my laptop and monitor using standard Kensington locks? It would be sort of pointless if somebody could just lift up the desk and slide it off one the legs. I know that if a thief was determined enough, they could steal it. I simply want to use this as a deterrent if my roommate has guests over while I’m away. My philosophy is that locks Keep the “honest guy” honest, they do not stop determined thieves. Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
