Hello, I was wondering what dorm room would be best for a freshman starting in the fall of 2013. I was thinking either Brody or South Complex, with the nod to Brody. Which dorm is the best in Brody square, I was thinking maybe Emmons or Bryan.

Brody has the best caf however it is kind of far from everything. There are buses though. You really want to keep that in mind. Some of the building in Brody Square are newly renovated, though I don’t recall which ones, but anyway the renovations are a plus.

I use to live in South Complex so I’m a little more familiar there. It is kind of far from Grand River (though not too far from Engineering or Anthony Hall which is nice). There is also a few bus stops around there. Holden was renovated four years ago I think and is pretty nice, I believe it has the same kind of furniture as Case. I lived in Wilson which is okay, the rooms are a nice size for sure. Case just had its cafe updated last year and it comes with furniture that you don’t need to buy a loft for which is very nice. I can’t say anything about Wonders.

Msugreen: As a freshman you do not get to request your dorm, or your neighborhood. Unless you are in a residential college, where you are assigned to is completely random.

Humanoid- were you in the Engineering Residential Experience? My daughter has applied to MSU and is waiting for her acceptance letter. She really wants to be in Wilson in the residential experience. My question to you is what process do you follow to get into the program?

I was it in but I am no longer an engineer or in the program. They might have changed the process but I just got a letter in the mail with the steps on how to sign up. You might want to try contacting the main office of which ever department her major is. They should be able to better answer your question or at least direct you to the right person.
