RobD, there are also multiple grocery stores if you stay on University Blvd, cross McFarland, and head into the Alberta City neighborhood.

I’ve already checked out the Publix for some of son’s favorite foods and they are not there. However, they should be at a Walmart that has groceries. I think they’re called Super Wal Marts or Wal Mart Supercenter. There has been a mention of a Walmart on Skyline. Where is that in proximity to campus, and does that Walmart carry grocery items?

Montegut: It is a Super Walmart on Skyline, and it should meet your son’s needs. If not, you can call Publix in T-Town and ask how you can go about ordering items. I do that here at our local supermarket when it is not available.

RobD: probably not very crazy at all since most of the school either doesn’t move-in until later or are not living near there. now the next week…

Publix will order things if they don’t carry something you’re looking for.

Both Tuscaloosa-area Wal-Marts (Skyland Blvd. and Northport) carry food, as do the ones you’d pass by if you were coming from Birmingham. I’m not too sure of the ones coming from New Orleans, but I assume they would too.

There’s probably a Walmart Supercenter in Livingston. Otherwise, Meridian is your best best for one southwest of Tuscaloosa.

“TooReal -We are OOS and last year around 5pm son got a call from a roommate that they were letting kids move in.”

DS has a 4pm move-in on Sat. - that was the latest on the schedule, I imagine if things are ready and not too much chaos then they’d welcome the chance to get a few more in before the Sunday morning rush.

Thanks for the reminder about Meridian. We have learned too well that there is not much between Meridian and Tuscaloosa. We’d like to grocery shop in Tuscaloosa, though, so son can get familiar with the stores.

So happy to hear so many of y’all are going to be coming for Alabama Action/Outdoor Action. Looking forward to meeting all of y’all in person.

Last year my son and I arrived around 10PM after a 11 hour road trip. We took a chance that someone MIGHT be around, hoping son could get his room keys. We were very lucky to find an RA in the Riverside Club House. We unloaded the entire car except for my overnight bag (I stayed at a hotel). I really did not want his car sitting in a hotel lot wifth all his belongings. I’m not implying that crime is an issue, but crime does happen any time - any where.
