Guidance would be welcome on the best method of finding a roomate. I see kids on facebook trying to line one up, I heard there may be roomate match services/questionaires online, or you can rely on housing to select one for you. How do most approach this? I am asking for my D's sake. Thanks in advance for weighing in on this. When I went to school, you found out who your roomate was when you saw a name on your dorm room on day 1. I like the idea of getting one assigned, but that may be old school. But I still can't rap my brain around kids asking facebook "friends" to be their roomate.

My daughter has actually found her roommate already via Facebook. She talked with a few of the girls that “friended” her through Facebook- they video chatted- texted- whatever to get a sense of whether or not they would be compatible- talking about sleeping habits/partying habits etc. We actually were at PSU this past weekend and so was her future roommate so they were able to meet up and hang out. I think they are going to make a great match so it seems like it worked for my daughter! I guess the kids feel like they can make it more likely that they will click with their roommate if they at least know they are compatible before hand. That being said, I am sure a lot of kids who are randomly matched become the best of friends!
