Dorm & roommate information is now available! Log in here:

sweet thanks for the link!

" Congratulations! You have been placed in a double room in a suite in Bldg 7, Foothill, located at Hearst & Gayley Rd in Berkeley (see map)."
And I have my roommate's info now too.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the e-mail address & phone number that is shown to your roommate? I think I put my home phone number, but I want to change it to my cell.

I don't think so...but there's still something you can do:

Call your roommate and tell him.

Find your roommate on facebook and message him about it.

how come i can only see my housing? does this mean my roommate did not release any of his information, even his name?

omy i literally screamed when i saw the title of this thread haha :D

i already e-mailed her....YAY i'm so excited :D

I e-mailed my roommate (somebody named Lucas...) a few hours ago and am eagerly awaiting a response :)

He doesn't have a facebook, unfortunately :(

AcidAlice, ur in Foothill? How funny...

ccbound: yes, it means your roommate didn't release info. Maybe they will contact you...

why is that funny? o.O

Dammit, it seems that neither of my roommates agreed to release information. I don't remember having the option of releasing or not releasing my info. Maybe the info for Clark Kerr just hasn't been uploaded yet?

AcidAlice: i dunno, it just is. there are a lot of jokes about it, but it's all in good fun. my brother goes to cal (he's gonna be a mentor at Bowles next year), and he has some good stories about it. but you'll love it up there. plus, you're close to food, which is always a good thing. i believe it is one of the newer dorms as well, if i am not mistaken. anyway, i went inside once. i'm not gonna lie, it was a pretty typical dorm, but it was CLEAN, which i've heard is huge in dorm life.

speaking of which, anyone in bowles next year?

One of my roommates is a sophomore and the other is a junior transfer :( I was hoping for other freshman...oh well. Do most people tend to become friends w/ their roommates and hang out mostly w/ them anyway?

I am in the Wada apartments, but I was only given info for one roommate. Does that mean I only get information for the person in my own bedroom? What gives!?!

Zee17: I think to a certain extent, yes, but it largely depends on how you get along with them. I know my brother still remains friends with his freshmen roommates (he was in a quad in Bowles, so he had 3), but I think it's more of an email/facebook thing. Then again, I know other people who've gone on to rent apartments with former roommies, etc. It really depends.

Will there be chances to get to know other people in the hallway, too? I'm in a triple suite in Unit 1, so I'm not sure if my hallway will be the same as the other normal ones with doubles and triples only. Hopefully the suite is the kind that's connected to a couple more rooms, and they all share a bathroom.

Well, the other two aren't exactly your roommates, since you don't share the same room. It's just like how people in suites don't get all their suitemates' info.

Nope, it's not. karabear1 asked about this in another thread and I replied with this:

This reminded me of a room I saw in Deutsch. There are 8 floors in Deutsch, all of them are hallway style. Except there was one room on the ground floor, next to the staircase / elevators. It's a triple room but it's huge compared to the regular triples; at least 2-3 times in size. It was one huge room with (I think) two floors and it might have even had a kitchen (don't remember). There is obviously no bathroom shared by the floor since it's the ground floor but there is a public-type bathroom right next to the room and across from the elevator (you know, the ones you see in a public place). I guess you would have to go to another floor for showers. There isn't really a loft but the room is so huge you could probably create one. This isn't what I would consider a suite but Berkeley may call it a suite, so the suite in Freeborn that you are talking about is probably the room I'm describing, because as far as I know floors 1-8 are all hallway-style.

It's really obscure and there's only one in every building. You don't really have floormates so you'll have to go up a floor or two to hang out with people. It's not that bad I just imagine you have to put in a little more effort.

Oh, I'm positive you'll meet other people in your dorm. Bowles is a little different, because being an all-guys dorm it kinda acts as a fraternity of sorts, but some of my brother's best friends were people on his floor. They even have floor-level rivalries, etc., and many intramural teams were formed by floor. I think you will find that you meet people a lot easier than you think. Dorms often throw parties (I'm not necessarily talking the hard core drinking type, but rather the "everyone has to dress up" Halloween party, or the "Let's throw dead turkeys at each other" Thanksgiving ones). Many dorms also gather before football games so floors can sit together in the rooting section. Wow, I'm getting all excited just talking about it...You'll have so much fun!

sorry, that last post was in response to zee17. maybe i just thought foothill was new because i'd just gotten done walking around bowles lol.

a random question:

do you call your roommate? or do you e-mail/facebook them? which one goes first?
it seems awkward to me either way.

i want my roommate to contact me first but i don't remember whether i've allowed her to see my contact info or not...heheh..
