Dorm Selection/Help

Hi, my daughter an incoming freshmen got placed in a single at Keyes Hall. At first she was bummed not having a roommate, since this wasn’t what she wanted. She contacted residential life and they said that there was a list and basically could not do anything until three weeks into the school year. Well she started to get used to the idea (reading threads about pro’s and cons). And just today she got an email from residential life about a possibility to get a double at Cushings Hall… now she is really confused!

What if any are the differences in halls? And would this mean that she may not be compatible with her roommate? Any suggestions or past experiences would be appreciated.

Thank you

The differences between those dorms are fairly minor. Keyes has better lounges. Hardey-Cushing is more centrally located (although since Newton campus is small this isn’t very important).

With a roommate there is always a chance that they won’t be compatible, even for people who chose roommates before hand. As long as they get along things are fine.
