Dorm Selection Help!

My roomate and I are going to be apart of Mistletoe, which have the Norton, Sherman, Raymond, and Tyler dorms. Which dorm building is nicer/newer? As in which one is more popular?

I don’t think freshman at CWRU have a choice in which building they live in until sophomore year. My son was in Mistletoe and lived in Hitchcock for 2013-2014. They all look the same from the outside and they are all clustered in the north part of campus near the new athletic facility. They are also close to the buildings for humanities and music subjects and the music practice rooms. The new student center is also close by so as far as eating options, you pretty much have the same options if you live in any freshman dorm.

Actually you do have a choice of building and room. Once you and your roommate choose each other and housing opens, you will have a list of available rooms…you can pick from those or let that group pass and the next group will come up. One of you will choose the room for both of you… Building groupings have changed this year- last year Mistletoe was Hitchcock, Storrs and Pierce. All of these dorms are pretty old and the rooms are small…none are really newer/nicer but everyone’s in the same boat! My D was also in Mistletoe/Hitchcock last year and really ended up making good friends with everyone on her floor.

Also you can still pick a room even if you decide to go random on the roommate selection. My son did that last year and it worked out well for him. He and his roommate didn’t wind up being friends or anything, but they got along and respected each other’s space and need for quiet study time.

Here’s a link to the interactive tour where you can look at the buildings and layout of each floor: <a href=“Facilities | University Housing | Case Western Reserve University”>http://students.case.edu/living/facilities/tour/

This has information when each building was built…but for the dorms it does not mention when they were renovated.

But I agree with others…don’t stress too much about getting the “best” room as they all similar.
