Dorm selection-tied to the date you applied or the date you accept?

Hi-Apologies if this has already been asked. Some colleges, regardless of your acceptance date, tie dorm priority to you application date. Can anyone tell me how OSU does it? Is it by when you accept? Or by when they accept you? Or, like Clemson and a few others, tied to your application date? thx!

@simple0920 it’s tied to the date you accept not the date you applied

Bummer! Thanks @ny1517

The date your contract is sent is tied to your acceptance fee payment date. Assignments are made by Housing for students not eligible for the re-selection lottery over the summer. Those assignments are based on several factors but are reviewed in the order they are received.

Keep in mind that many students are eligible for Honors, Scholars and LC housing (not to mention scholarship housing). Remaining students are placed in remaining rooms based on their contract information. Once you remove the Honors, Scholars and LC students, the pool is reduced quite a bit.

@bucks724 thank you-very helpful. She is on the cusp of accepting but hasn’t received any merit info yet and is concerned that if she accepts now, they may take that into consideration when offering merit. Hope that made sense…

@simple0920 - She’s concerned about accepting early affecting her merit?

@simple0920 all merit awards have not been sent yet but accepting her admission offer should not affect her merit award.

Accepting won’t affect merit. I would accept now if she’s going so that she can get the housing application earlier.
