is this good to select a single room or double room as freshmen?

Double room is cheaper. Single room has more privacy.
Need to work out with roommate in double. Single can be lonely at a time.

Any comments and experience

Get a single if you can. You can leave the door open & people will stop in.. but you can shut the door when you just want to be left alone.

get a double, uve probably had your own room your whole life. its college, try something different. have fun!

It depends on what you want. Duh.

It seems like many people on this board reccomend a single dorm. This is in my opinion, and in the opinion of the majority of those who I have talked, bad advice. Perhaps it is just a sample of the types of students on CC, but the potential benefits of living with a roomie far outweigh the possible downsides. You will all have to learn to interact and get along with people eventually. When you live with a roommate you can potentially find a great friend, but you will definitely enhance your social experience. Your social circle will double with your roomies friends coming over too, and you will meet many more people. I second the above advice though, definitely always keep your door open, people will stop by and chill and life will be cool.

Go for the double. Try something new. I lived with 3 girls my first semester here, two for the first two weeks of this semester, and now I'm finally in a double. Yeah, it can be hard living with other people, but it can be so much fun, and you learn a lot. I actually like having a roommate.

thanks a lot everyone. I'm only a junior in high school. I'm applying colleges in the fall. I will have a precollege summer program living in a double room coming up in June. But the summer residential program has a curfew. So, things will work out. I'm always wonder how's the dorm life as freshmen. Currently, my younger brother comes into my room to study. But we dont talk that much. I have all the spaces to myself. I always live as single in my life. No distraction. The only distraction is my parents come into my room. How can you handle the roommate situation when u really want to study, or want to sleep? What happen if the roommate blasts the stereo to the max and I want quiet time. Can I survive the dorm life? I mean time to social and time to study.
