Dorm Space

Hi, I was recently accepted to McGill; however, due to the lengthy time needed to get a passport, I can visit McGill in April. I was wondering, how quickly do the spaces in New Rez and Sherbrook Rez fill up? I wanted to stay in one of those dorms, and because they are usually the most popular, I assume they will fill up the quickest.

And another question if anyone knows. I am probably going to attend the Faculty of Agriculture, but I can still dorm on the regular McGill campus right? Or does the Macdonald campus have separate housing?

Macdonald campus has its own residence halls. While McGill operates a shuttle bus system between campuses, you really would not want to live downtown and commute to Ste.-Anne-de-Bellevue. It is 25 miles and you would be in suburban traffic for most of the trip. The shuttle bus is intended for Mac students who are taking some courses on the downtown campus and vice versa.

oh okay thank you!

how big are the hotel rooms? are they considerably bigger than the other dorm rooms

yes, the hotels were once 4-star hotels, can comfortably fit two queen beds, two desks, two dressers, and a few leisure chairs. literally any hotel room you can imagine with two beds. the dorms on the otherhand are much less appealing and are smaller. though some people like the traditional dorm rooms and hate the idea of paying the cost of new rez. don’t be disappointed if you dont get what you want, everyone has an amazing time in their residence.

Agreed. While the mountain residences (Upper Rez) are monastic in that all rooms are singles with cinder block walls, it’s good if you need to study and don’t want to trek down to the library. Single rooms have other benefits too!
