Howdy, I'm a Freshman Biomedical Science Major. I was assigned Briggs Hall, but I would rather upgrade to a more expensive hall, the extra money is worth the privacy. What are the chances that if I request a Dorm change at the beginning of Fall that my roommate and I could change to Rudder, Wells, Dunn, or Krueger? Do the expensive Dorms run out of space more often than the cheaper ones? Feel free to ask any questions pertaining to Dorm Life, that is just my specific question.

Just passing this along… there are people posting requests for housing switches/swaps w/other students on the Texas A&M 2013 group on Facebook.

K thanks I’ll look into it.

Too bad they process your request by priority of when you submitted your housing deposit. I really don’t want to live in Walton. ahhhh

Ugh, really? I don’t even remember when I sumbitted my deposit. Maybe I’ll get lucky and be placed somewhere else…idk.

Dorms for this upcoming year are FULL to the max… biggest freshman class ever. You’d be lucky if you could find someone to swap dorms with you.

I know several guys who got crappy dorms last year and they all got on a waiting list for other dorms. Although they were full up at the beginning of the school year, they all were switched to better dorms in a couple of weeks. Things change, people don’t show, etc. I don’t know about trying to change both of you to another room together, though…good luck and gig 'em!

That’s good to hear bandnerd. I guess I can survive a of couple weeks. But I didn’t like it when they said they were full AND overflowed with spaces for dorms at my NSC yesterday.
They’ll be quite a bit of temporary housing, thus could make dorm changes difficult. ;[

I was wondering about the temporary housing too. I was assigned room (3)307 for Briggs, so what does the three in parenthesis mean?

Should mean it’s just the floor (third) that you’re on…Or that there’s a temporary roommate assigned to your room. Probably the former, though.

Yeah, but I know two of the other girls in the same dorm that have rooms (3)107 and (3)207.

Eh. Then maybe you should email/call the Housing services about it?

i may be mistaken, but some of the dorms there are what they call ramp style. maybe that means ramp 3?

but really idk. just an idea.

There are only two Ramp style dorms, Hart & Walton. Briggs is a Corps dorm I think.
And the ramps are labeled with letters, for example H-04 for me.
Anybody know a lot about Walton? I got that and heard it’s very…crazy like.

Xcellerator-we were walking around northside during my NSC and I heard that Walton was built in the '20s o.O and they were repainting the walls
Anyone have info on Clements?

Yeah, and I also heard about the meningitis in that hall a few years back there. They said they’re getting new furniture and stuff for Walton and a couple of another dorms in the ResHall handbook we got.
Clements is an honors dorm is all I know.

ewwwwwww dorms :p

Off campus is where it is at! I visited the dorms, and they were quite inferior to many of the off campus apartments I’ve seen. Smaller, dirtier, cramped, and somewhat stinky. Also, Dorms are more $$$ as opposed to some of the off campus places i’ve visited.

Lol, user3725. So true. xD
I already paid the deposit (like $335) already so don’t think I can talk my parents in staying off campus. ;[
Where are you staying, user3725? Callaway or Traditions?

ouch @ the deposit, move out next semester :D

I’m staying in an off campus apartment right behind the Traditions. It’s better than dorms and cheaper (imo).

Which dorm are you in again?

I probably will. :)

That’s awesome. Damned A&M dorms are soo ghetto as heck. argh

Walton, the cheapest & probably craziest dorm. Bunch of upperclassmen will be living here. :/
