Dorm vs. Apartment

Which is better? Would it be better to live in a dorm or get an apartment with a few people?

What school, what city? NYU and an apartment on the economy.....better have a deep pocket. Your question is too vague.

live in the dorm for AT LEAST one year- its the best way to meet people. when you're an upper classman, get an apartment.
but it depends on the school. at my little LAC, 98% of the student body lived on campus, so if you didnt, you were kinda out of the loop.

A dorm is better in terms of making friends and socializing, etc., which really is why most Freshmen stay in dorms.

After freshman year, an apartment will be a more suitable choice, esp. since you probably would want to make your own meals at that point, instead of eating the same food over and over in the dining halls every day.

I live in an apartment with 3 other people, but I'm a soccer player and all the soccer players livein the same place, the other athlete live here aswell

hazmat is right, depends on where you go too school.
im a new england softmore, so freshman life is over and the apartment my friends and i have is perfect for our situation. plus i hate, hate the dorm mattresses. its all the same university crap, everywhere im sure everyone has that problem.
and, because of the apartment, i was able to order a nice Simmons from 1800Mattress - they have a back to school sale and all, same day delivery and set up. needless to say, im resting easy now and now more ****ty sleep.
the apt. is more freedom and we dont have to deal with standard college dumbasses found in dorms.

Can you explain why its better to live in an apartment than a dorm after freshmen year is over besides cheaper cost?
