i already sent in my housing request and i put fluor as number one and parkside as number two. now i'm really panicking about whether or not i should've gone for a dorm over a suite. my parents really pressured me into going for a suite and i'm scared that i'll be stuck in my suite while everyone else is having fun in the dorms. as a very social person (i have no problem starting up conversations with people i don't know) will i have difficulty finding fun stuff to do in a suite rather than a dorm?

Hey, I'm not in college yet (just another accepted student), but I wouldn't freak out about it personally. The website says Fluor is popular with freshman, and there are 8 people to a suite. So it's like having 8 roommates kinda, with just more space. I think if you're social, you'll have no trouble finding fun stuff to do. But if some more informed people respond or you really want the dorm experience (apparently it's once in a lifetime, so why not for one year?), you can e-mail USC and have them reset your application. I did that once, b/c I was being really indecisive, haha.

I haven't heard too many complaints like that. Most complaints I hear about suites have to do with roommates (because you have more roommates, you're more likely to have conflicts)

But on the other hand suites are very nice for lots of other reasons. It all comes down to personal preferences and a bit of luck. :)

you'll be fine. honestly, suites are incredibly sociable depending on the people, and if not your suite, OTHER suites can be too :)

of your two suite options...Fluor, considering it's all suites, is very social but manageable, so i wouldn't worry about it too much. Parkside is not nearly as social, but the amenities are so much nicer that i think it can be justified. it's not like people in Parkside don't have fun, they do, but it's not as much of a party crowd considering a good fraction of the students are international/engineers. and in general with all suites, just from looking at my friends, it seems like some of your best friends will end up being your suitemates, which i'd say is a good thing.

pretty much...i don't think you'll have a problem ;).

ok great. i'm a mechanical engineer so i'm hoping to have some classmates who are also my suitemates if i end up in parkside.
