Dorms And Financial Aide

I got a question for dorming. im going to be a transfer studen (Jr year) to UCD, i was wondering if financial aid will cover dorming as well if your family is low income. single mother and makes 18k a yr. so overall my question is will they cover dorming fees and school fees? or just school fees it self.

please help me thank u.

Yes, your financial aid package will include the cost of housing & food.

But, even with $0 EFC, in most cases the UCs offer loans as almost half the package, so you will likley have student loans...there may be some sources of scholarships which exclude loans, but the basic package is around $25k COA, around $11-$13K in grants plus the rest loans, at least that has been the experience of many students we know at various UCs.

Unless your college meets full need, it is difficult to say how large (and therefore how complete) your financial aid package will be. UCD does not meet full need. It is likely that your finaid package will not cover your full cost of attendance (tuition/room/board). Most colleges also assume a student contribution from summer and/or school employment. AND keep in mind that any part of your finaid that is in excess of your tuition and fees costs will be considered taxable income (i.e. finaid for room and board is taxable).
