dorms and layout of the school

I was only able to take an interview at MHC and I wasn't able to walk around the campus. Could someone tell me what the dorm rooms are like ? Are they a decent size? The campus/buildings themselves looked really pretty from the outside. Also, where are the dining halls in relation to the dorms?

thanks!

The dining halls are inside the dorms, usually on the first floor. Dorms like Mead and Safford don't have full-service dining halls, but they have breakfast on weekday mornings. There's not much of a variety, as there is in say, Ham/MacGregor, but it is good enough. Abbey Buckland, Ham/MacGregor, Prospect, the Rockys, Torrey and Wilder all have full service dining. Also, inside the showers a lot of the dorms have changing areas, but the older ones (Mead & Safford?) don't.

Some of the dorms are really centrally located (Wilder,Rockys,Safford,Mead), while others are semi-far from the academic buildings.

A few of the dorm rooms I visited felt really clustered and others didn't. I guess it's just a matter of if you know how to manage space or not.

The dorm rooms aren't HUGE, but they are bigger than other college dorms you'll see. I went to the library & one academic building when I went to Experience last month, and both places were gorgeous on the inside. The library is kind of creepy higher up, though.

I'm not sure if you're into riding, but the equestrian center was awesome and I'm not a rider myself, but I think I may start because it just seemed so cool. :D

See you next year. :P

I just sent in my reply card from the wait list and I'm still waiting for the MHC confirmation papers to be sent back. Does MHC have any summer orientations?

Orientation is in September. :)

Is your MHC e-mail address included in the information that is sent back to you after you send in your deposit?
about how long did this take after you sent in your deposit?

thanks!

all of my information from MHC came today. Does anyone have suggestions for dorms? I know I want to be centrally located and not on teh outskirts. I'm looking at wilder, brigham and safford. Any suggestions? thanks

Any of those three is pretty central to the campus. If I remember correctly, you can click on individual dorms and it will tell you the number of first-years, sophomores, jrs etc. that live in each hall.
My first year I requested three dorms (all on the green) and was dissappointed when I was assigned a room in 1837. But it worked out for the best! Some of my friends from smaller dorms had maybe 4 or 6 firsties on their floors, whereas I had 18 (basically my entire floor :-p). It was fantastic! We OWNED that floor and were always running around laughing and screaming. Apparently this tradition continued because my senior year the fifth floor firsties in 1837 decided it would be a good idea to have a dancing pole installed in the common space...oh those crazy kids.
I also lived on the green for a couple of years and I do have to say, it's nice to feel like you're right in the middle of everything. Basically, no matter where you end up, you'll have fun!
