Dorms and living arrangements?

Hi I’ve recently been admitted into CP SLO and was wondering which dorms to live in if I had a choice. I would like to live in a place that is not a triple yet is very social so I can make many new friends. For example, one that parties a lot lol. Can anyone help explain the differences and pros/cons of the halls/dorms? It would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!

PS I was thinking of choosing as my choices: #1 Sierra Madre #2 Muir #3 Yosemite?

Please help me!! Thanks!!!

Those are the exact three dorms my daughter chose in that order. She wants Connections for Sierra Madre and Yosemite and Living and Learning for Muir.

^ That probably didn’t help much.

If you’re a party person, the red bricks would be good for you. Though the space is smaller than most other dorms, its very social and you meet a lot of people. It’s the typical “dorm experience.” Sierra Madre is social as well, but less so than the red bricks. I’d say more people in there are serious about school, but that’s not to say they’re all introverted; the rooms are also larger and spacious. Yosemite is basically like Sierra Madre, but further from everything. North Mountain dorms are the most spacious, but also the most “secluded,” as they are basically outdoor corridors that remind you of motels. North Mountain people get access to the Sierra Madre common room, though, so they socialize as well. Cerro Vista is basically an apartment complex. One plus is you won’t have roommates, but suite-mates instead.

Getting a triple is dependent, apparently, on how quickly you get your housing spot reserved, so if you want a complete social dorm experience, get that stuff in and go for red bricks. If you want to avoid any chance of a triple, your current choices seem sufficient for your likes.

Check through the many housing threads on this site. We talk a lot about housing!
I hope you are able to go for a tour! Good luck and get your application for housing in as soon as you decide. You can always change where you choose, but you need to get your application and money in just to get a spot in line.

Zungra nailed it beautifully and momofmv is right on regarding the urgency of getting your app and deposit in. I don’t think there will be that many triples next year however, you can decrease your chances by specifying a roommate (of course he has to reciprocate) if you can. That worked well for my son who is in Muir and having way too much fun!

Oops. I had typed my post on my iPod Touch and then accidently submitted before adding more. Then something distracted me. Sorry. Anyway, Zungra was right, although I’ve heard Sierra Madre is pretty social. Either way, you can’t go wrong for meeting new people.

I had responded:

“Those are the exact three dorms my daughter chose in that order. She wants Connections for Sierra Madre and Yosemite and Living and Learning for Muir.”

Zungra replied about my post above.
