i'd like a hall with minimal noise, more of an academic atmosphere, but i dont mind the occasional partying. also id like for the residence hall to have food. I was thinking of requesting south halls either atherton or simmons.

How are the North Halls? I was thinking of going with a suite there...any idea how those are?

Do most people go into PSU without requesting a roomate?

Starting in the Fall, Simmons will be the only residence hall with a dining commons. However, all residence halls will have vending machine for food/drinks.

I guess you probably know North Hall suites cost quite a lot more. A lot of people meet up for the first time rooming together.

Our S requested South halls - but (unless we overlooked something), we could only pick South in general. We weren't given the option of requesting Atheron/Simmons specifically.

He was thinking it would be nice to try and find a potential roommate with similar interests, but so far he hasn't been able to connect with any other incoming freshmen so will probably just end up with a random match.

My son just came home tonight finishing his freshman year. He lived in Atherton this year, and had a great random roommate. He is part of the Schreyer's honor college, and both Atherton and Simmons dorms are honor dorms. If they don't fill up with honor students it opens to all students. There are other dorms in the south also.
