Dorms/Apartments: Questions....

Hey everyone~

I'm planning to transfer to UCSB this Fall, and am trying to apply for housing. In the application website, I only get to choose between: El Dorado, Santa Ynez, Westgate or "any dorms"... Any Dorms?! I've heard that they place Transfer students into San Rafael and Manzanita, does "any dorms" means lottery between this two only or just randomly choose from 8 residence halls?
Also if I got placed into an apartment, when is the move in date? Is it same as the dorms(9/19, 9/20)?

Thanks in advance for any answer and response..... ^_^

Anyone?
I really need some advices…
Still haven’t turn in my application yet.

I had the same question, i sent the housing department an email and they said that all the dorms other than manzanita and san rafael are for Freshman ONLY. Tranfers can’t even pick an LLC to live in another dorm.

It’s so tricky…
I really wish someone from UCSB could give the answers… - -!!

You pick either apartments or dorms. If you select dorms, after that, you’ll do the dorm app where you’ll prioritize the dorms (all dorms are included btw though you likely won’t get into a freshman one).

Thanks rc!

OK, Some one gave me a link & I wrote an email to the Housing ppl, here’s their reply :

Yes, “any res hall” means San Rafael or Manzanita. In the contract phase after June 1st application deadline you will be asked more specific preferences for building, etc. Opening weekend is the same for apartments and residence halls.

I hope it would help anyone who has the same question. ^_^
