Dorms at Berkeley

I was recently admitted to UCB, is there any transfer dorms? What type of dorms would you guys recommend for a third year?

Any information provided would be extremely helpful!

Thank you : )

Wada, Channing-Bowditch, and Martinez Commons are all apartment-style and reserved for upper div/continuing students, I think.

Could you provide me a brief overview of what it’s generally like living at these dorms or would it be wiser to live in an apartment?

I got a bad lottery number and ended up in a unit mini-suite instead, so most of my floor is freshmen. It’s okay, I guess. My floor is pretty quiet, and it’s nice to be so close to campus. I tend to focus more on academics and don’t care too much about the social aspect of things, so I’m probably not the best person to ask about how things are.

No, there’s not housing for specific majors. A lot of engineering students seem to end up in Foothill, since that’s closest to the engineering buildings… but there’s no real separation by major. Doesn’t matter a whole lot anyways, you’ll meet people in your major in your classes.

I’m a transfer and live in Wada right now, it is decent. The floors are not very social, and the roommates you get will determine how much fun you will have.
Heres a video of the Unit 1 double dorm I lived in over summer (with freshmen and some other transfers), which I thought was much more fun.
