Does anyone else find it strange that HU doesn't have you complete a big roommate survey? How do they pair people? Just totally random?

@unclear

I am curious about this too.

We did see the new dorm buildings being finished up. Do freshmen have a chance of living in them?

@med2serve
I think one of the new dorms is for female freshman. I know I want to live someplace where I can study. I don’t think they have ‘living learning’ communities like most colleges, or even honors dorms for freshman.

Any pros or cons of Quad v/s annex? The new dorms are not listed in the form I have to send to the university’s residence life office. Have you sent the form @unclear?

@med2serve what little I have heard is that the Quad is a great bonding experience and a ton of fun, but the lease conducive for studying. The annex is suite style and a bit quieter with a cafeteria in the building (but under renovation right now, the cafeteria that is). The new dorms are called College Street and are on the form. College Street North is the freshman female. I put in for that. It is the most expensive but I think will have study rooms.
I want to have fun, but I have got to be someplace where they have a place to study.

I am going to the freshman general orientation in a few weeks and hope to get to see all the dorms then.

The Annex is a bit newer than the Quad. And the Quad sometimes places 3 girls in one room so, yeah. To my knowledge there are two new dorms, one will be for freshmen females the other for Sophomore men and women. Honors freshmen used to be placed in Cook and the Annex but I think that has changed now.
