Dorms at Penn State?

So I’m an upcoming freshman at psu, and I luckily (and potentially unluckily) got my first choice – west halls. Since I’m a engineering student it’s very convenient for my classes; however, fromwhatiheard west is very quiet and not a party atmosphere. Is east a better choice for nightlife seeking freshmen?

Well I suppose the question is - are you really seeking night life? I would offer this - it’s college. Things are going to be happening all around. Maybe West is a little quiet for your liking, but that also can be nice. It’s not like you’re confined to your hall, if you felt like partying it up then it’s just a short walk away. In my opinion, it’s nice to have a quieter hall to live in, for sleeping and studying purposes… and also just for your sanity in general. I’m an incoming freshman too, who got west also! And I couldn’t be happier with my decision. West is especially nice because you’re an engineering student; you’ll be next to your classes, and will be able to talk with students who are going through all the same things, which will also open up new doors for your social life.

I live in another quiet area on campus (not West Halls), and I actually like living in a quiet part of campus over a noisy part. I was always able to easily study and fall asleep in my dorm room because it was always quiet. If I wanted social interaction, I would go out and find it.

Thanks guys! I guess having a quiet dorm is nicer overall. Hope to see you up at state MMarcy

No problem! With a campus this large I probably won’t see you, but I wish you luck in West and engineering! I hope I made you feel a bit better about your housing area!

If you plan on staying an engineering student, make sure you only party on weekends. At that point, being in a form that’s not party central every night will be a relief - and there’ll be plenty of parties minutes away for the weekend.
