Dorms at Washington University in St. Louis

I have been looking into transferring to WUSTL after obtaining my Associate’s degree, and I was wondering what the single dorms are like. Do any have private bathrooms? The thought of having to share a bathroom with random, germy strangers does not appeal to me. The Wash U website wasn’t cooperating with my phone; so, what are the dorms like? Or would I be better of getting an apartment by myself? Thanks!

When there are transfers (and that’s a big IF, WashU occasionally has a 0% transfer acceptance), there’s typically a “transfer house” where they let the transfers live together to acclimate to the university. This is sometimes an old frat house (ie I think either SAMmy’s or SAE’s house has been used when they were booted) or a floor in the village, etc. In those situations it’s typical that you’ll have your own bedroom but may share a bathroom with 1 or 2 other people.

The other options for upperclassmen housing on campus are village east & millbrook. You’d share a bathroom in both of those. Off campus options have a few singles w/ private bathrooms (ie I had a friend with this situation in Greenway). But honestly if you’re going to be in an off campus apartment you should just get your own non-reslife option since it’ll be much cheaper anyway.

Thank you! I’ve thought about transferring or trying to go there after I get my bachelor’s. I may have a better chance trying the latter.

I thought my son mentioned that he met a transfer who was living in Lofts on the Loop. I am not sure what type of units the Lofts are, but the Loop is a neat area. The Lofts are a new housing option at Washu. You might want to check those out.
