Dorms for Spring Admits

I came across this in the archives…

“So um. . . I got into spring '05 But I wanna do that Fall extension thing. . . except I heard that we don’t get guaranteed housing. . . so then I read that a way to bypass the lottery for housing is to join one of those group thingies. . . except the downside is that you have to do stuff for that group, and I dunno if I wanna do that. . . So I dunno I guess it’s only for one semester and I could use the housing, unless I could get some without having to join. . . It is in Kerr. . .”

Anyone know any info on this “group” thing?

Probably a reference to one of the theme houses. There are a number of them - global environmental theme house, women in science, glbt. It is one strategy to getting into the dorms if you are a Spring admit. That said, there are other housing options such as the coops and private dorms like Tau House(?). The Fall Freshman Ext program has info on housing possibilities. If you are considering the coops, they give tours at Cal Day.

Are there any theme programs in the Clark Kerr Campus? The person who wrote that specifically mentioned that and the theme programs mentioned on the Cal Housing site are only in the units or foothill.

i dont know i know a lot of spring admits who did fall extension and they all got housing. most people get housing in dorms

yeah, berkeley is trying to get 2 years of guaranteed housing for people, right now its 1 year, dont worry, you have a very very high chance of getting housing, tho i must say, it might not be the one you want.....heh heh

you get housing but not priority housing, and usually youll have 2 roommates. but to make up for it they give you the side of the dorm w/ the bay view. i just got bak from berkeley 5 minutes ago. im a spring admit. and i LOVED IT.
