So I’m entering BU as a junior in the fall and looking around at the housing options – I have a preference for any apartment-style stuff. 10 Buick Street is looking very good on paper, but of course I’d like to see for myself. Any current BU students have any input, over this or any other dorms to look at? Would be much appreciated.

As a parent, I stayed in 10 Buick Street during my S's orientation last summer. The suite was lovely. I believe it is air conditioned which is a huge plus.

Thats the Student Village--go for it. Amazing lobby, outdoor courtyard cafe, no hallway bathrooms. Upper classmen only so maybe less intensely social and less noisy as others. Not sure how hard it is to get in your first year as a transfer but if you do then you may want a 4 person rather than two person suite so you'll expand your social connections. See the galleria pix on the link above. Its actually nicer than the pix with river views from some angles. Good luck.
Transferring from where?

Thanks for all the input. I've been at Iona College in NY's Westchester county for 3 semesters, and Nassau CC on Long Island for one. One question, that link made reference to 'Security Assistants' as being one of the Cons for 10 Buick -- what does this mean exactly, if anyone happens to know -- and what's the deal with the guest sign-in policy?

Thats just refering to the security guards, some of them enforce the rules more than others(which can be a frustrating), and the guest-policy is what governs all large dorms and can be a pain at times due to its ridiculousness. I do know, however, that it is highly unlikely for a transfer student to get placed into the StuV, not to be condescending or any, but StuV is basically the Cream of the Crop of Bu Housing and very hard to get in.
