thinking of transferring 2011 would i even be able to get dorms? where do most people like to stay?

If you can pay an extra $3,000 per year, have a 2.5 GPA, and can write a decent essay, then I recommend the Residential College. The buildings are brand-new. The dining hall is better than Johnson Commons, the main dining hall on campus, and you can eat as often as you like, whereas you have to pay by the meal everywhere else. I think it’s slightly farther from the center of campus than the other residence halls, but not much. And they’re the closest buildings on campus to downtown Oxford, making it a little more convenient to go into town.

I second mantori’s recommendation. The Residential College is the place to be if you can afford the extra cost. Upper classmen seem to appreciate the culture of the RC. Due to the increase in the size of this year’s freshman class, housing was a bit tight this year. I would recommend giving Student Housing a call and ask about the “transfer student housing policy”. The staff at Ole Miss is extremely friendly and willing to help.

As far as “coed” goes, the RC is coed. However, men and women are divided by wing/floor. There are rules in regards to members of the opposite sex being in the rooms after a certain time each evening. Hope this helps.
