Dorms on Busch

Which dorm is the best freshman dorm on Busch? I know that BAMM is generally the best, but within BAMM, is there one in particular that is the best???

BAMM are the same. The buildings look the same. The rooms look the same. I lived in Metzger. It was pretty cool – except for the usual drunk kids that stumbled in at 2am on Friday morning (and they say Busch kids don’t like to party . . . ha!)

Barr houses mostly (if not all) engineering students. Mattia is the all-male dorm for majors in engineering. I don’t know what’s best, but I guess is just depends on your academic interests. If you are not in the school of engineering, you will probably be placed in Metzger or Allen. Or you could placed on Davidson.

I’ll be majoring in business, so hopefully I will be able to get a room in Metzger or Allen–are the dorms firsst come first serve? Because I don’t think I’ll be sending my housing application until the middle of April…

Yes…the earlier you apply for housing, the more likely that you’ll get your first choice. Honestly, I don’t think that mid April is too good if you’re aiming for Busch…but I have two friends that managed to transfer from Livingston to Busch in the middle of first semester, so you could get lucky.

I’m probably getting Livingston if my waitlist goes through  Unless as an engineer I get priority somewhere

Emerica, my son entered as a transfer engineering student this past fall, and his dorm is on Livingston. Although he would have preferred Busch, it has worked out fine for him. The bus is right outside his dorm room. But he did tell me he has to allow plenty of time for the bus ride.

Are the dorms on Busch Triples? Doubles? Singles? I prefer a double (me + a buddy) can i request this and my roommate??

Are you an incoming freshman? Dorms are doubles. You can request that you live with your buddy when you fill out the housing application =)

mannnn I can only make my decision until after the admitted students day, which is April 10th, so late!!! I’m going to end up in an motel off campus or something…

^ I don’t think freshman are put into the hotels. I think the rule is that the freshman are guaranteed ON-campus housing. You may not get your first choice. But you will still be residing somewhere on-campus.

“Late” would be applying for housing in Mid-May. April is not bad. It’s just that the chance of getting your first choice is lowered as time passes.

Note: a bulk of the students start applying for housing after the admitted day in April when they had a tour of a residence hall or campus.

that’s true…generally I’d say a mediocre dorm at New Brunswick is equal to a nice dorm at other schools I’m looking at

The dorms here at Rutgers are generally acceptable! I don’t hear too many complaints about the size. Even a room that is considered “small” is actually bigger than what I have seen at the colleges that my brother and friends attend now.

I hear the Livingston campus is really lame…but the Business school is on Livingston…so i guess I’ll have to get used to it…they just put a new student center in which i hear is nice…

you can live on busch if your going to the business school. those two campuses are right next to each other and their only maybe 1-3 miles apart

yes, that is what I’m hoping for…is Livingston undergoing a huge expansion or has that just been a plan that has never started?

yea livingston is expanding. their making the business school bigger but honestly its not worth it to live there. the dorms r crap. i dont go to rutgers but i will be a rutgers student at new brunswick this fall. my sister lived on livingston and hated it. overall, i think college ave. looks the best then busch. if ur for business i recomment busch because its literally right next to livingston and u dont have to take route 18 to get to class

great, thanks! what are you majoring in?

well ill be at rutgers-new brunswick in fall 2010 for my freshman year. i hope to major in economics.
