Dorms/Tuition&Scholarships

I'm a senior from Texas, GPA uw 3.6, ACT 31, SAT 1310ish (math and critical reading). I've taken 10 APs so far, tested for 8 with scores of 4+, will take 8 next year. My mom went to DU as a grad student. Do I have reasonable chances for honors and merit aid?

Average honors stats from 2011 were 3.97, 32, and 1379

I would surmise that your stats are strong enough for a merit award as something like 60% of the incoming class gets merit money. Unless the applicant pool has changed significantly, expect at least the Centennial ($10,000/year)

We were told that for this year’s incoming class a student needed at least a 3.7 high school GPA to be considered for merit money.

So far this year, I’ve raised my grades to all 95+. Does DU care about senior grades? Hope so! Also, I somehow improved my ACT score (now a 33).

@badparent and @gunnerz
Thank you both for the information! It is much appreciated!!

I’m a current DU student, with your stats I’d say you have a very good chance for merit scholarships, and a lesser chance, but still decent chance at getting into the Honors Program. I had similar-ish stats to you in highschool (I did the IB program) and received the Provost ($17,000/yr).

I would say senior grades do matter, but not incredibly so (as long as there’s not a drop off in quality and they remain pretty consistent, and if they have an upward trend, even better). Good luck!
