anybody know much about them? suite-style, normal style, communal bathrooms or not, etc?

So there’s a lot of variety, but they’re almost all really great. The rundown is essentially like this:

Rockefeller and Mathey Colleges-
these are the oldest dorms, but this does not mean they suck. I personally think they’re the best. soooo much character. These rooms are weirdly shaped and sometimes have weird things going on like slanty ceilings, staircases (yes, some are two-stories), and the like. mainly quads with huge common rooms or doubles, but there are about 70 singles too. These are the kind of rooms you imagine when you think of Princeton: stained glass windows, fireplaces, wood floors, big wooden window seats, etc. Also there’s a good chance somebody famous lived in your room. (John Nash was in my neighbor’s room). You pay for the sweet character by losing a few of the nicer, newer amenities. Bathrooms are communal, although usually only two or three rooms share one bathroom nearby. The printers are in the basement. Also, pretty good location-wise.

Butler and Wilson Colleges -
the opposite of Rocky/Mathey. Less charm because these are the newest, so you have more box-y, generic rooms, not Gothic-style, more modern-ish, but to compensate your rooms are sick. The quads are usually a two huge doubles with a private bathroom and common room imbetween. The bathrooms are new and super nice. Location is pretty good.

Forbes College-
so Forbes has the most variety. half of Forbes used to be a hotel. So you can imagine, most of the rooms are doubles or singles, with a few small-ish quads that were the hotel suites. Usually have a private bathroom, but they’re pretty tiny. Not a huge amount of character, pretty much like a hotel.
The other half is the annex, which are probably the worst dorms on campus, but aren’t awful. Just kind of plain-ish, not huge. Newish, nice-ish bathrooms.
Forbes is a hike from everyone on campus though. :(

Whitman-
Whitman is like a halfway point between Rocky-Mathey and Butler-Wilson. Really new, but in the Gothic-style so they have more personality. LOADS of singles. If you get this college you’re probably going to have a single. Also a lot of quads, not many doubles. I think the bathrooms are communal, but I’m not positive? Anyway, Whitman also has the best location.

Those are all the underclassmen dorms. The upperclassmen dorms are a lot nicer, essentially just nice apartments because otherwise everyone would go off campus looking for better stuff.

They range from a hallway of singles with communal bathrooms to 11 person suites with two private bathrooms. Most of the newer buildings have pretty standard rooms (singles, quads with 2 bedrooms, a common room, and maybe a bathroom, one room doubles), but the older buildings tend have a whole range of types of rooms. A lot of it depends on which res college you are assigned to. For example, Wilson has a lot of big suites.
