Dorms

I'm looking to register for a dorm that is quiet and relatively spacious (compared to other dorms). Which Cornell dorm would be best? Thanks.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to pick our dorms. If you’re a girl, though, I’d recommend that you request all-female housing which would be in Balch, which has bigger rooms and is known for being quiet since it’s not coed. If you’re a boy, then I have no advice for you. All we get to do is request a single, double, triple, or quad… we don’t get to request a certain hall or anything, which I find saddening, but whatevs.

Balch is not for all girls. Female students shouldn’t specifically request Balch unless they have good reason to.

Well I’m certainly not going to request it… but I think that a “good reason” to request it would be for its quietness and relative spaciousness compared to other dorms, which is what the OP wants.

If they’re a girl, that is.

all freshmen dorms are crappy and small. If you want a spacious one, you have to pay extra to get those townhouses.

This is absolutely false.

We just took a tour of most of the freshman dorms last weekend (except for Balch and the townhouses). They looked pretty much like all the other college dorms we’ve seen. Actually, the common spaces were a lot nicer in many respects.
