Dorms

Is there any way to see an actual room of your hall and not just the general one? Also do some halls have gyms in them?

I’m in a triple in Hardey, incase any one has insight on that.

Hmm, try to look on Facebook for a dorm group.
For my dorm, someone in the group visited and posted pictures of it. Do you want me to post some of them here?

Yea we have a grp. No luck though there. Sure post some, plz if possible.

Thanks.

The triple is actually very spacious, you’ll have a ton of room in the middle. I don’t believe there are actual pictures of the dorms available unless you look them up on facebook groups or do some deep digging.

None of the dorms have gyms in them, but there is cardio equipment in Vanderslice and a couple of other buildings. If you want a real gym, you’d have to go to the plex (Quonset Hut is garbage).

damnn, that sucks about the gym.
Good news about the triple though, thanks.

Another question. How much can you rearrange the triples on newton? can you like make a common area or something?

You can do whatever you want to your room, provided you don’t damage anything.

However, you can’t have a futon or anything… they’ll confiscate it. Tried that…

well that suckssss ^^

Hi, a couple random questions…i am in a forced triple and was wondering if we are allowed to keep only one desk in our room instead of three (space saver!)? Also, i heard memory foam toppers aren’t allowed…do they check your beds to see if you actually have one?

According to this ([Facilities & Furnishings - Office of Residential Life - Boston College](http://www.bc.edu/offices/reslife/lifeinhalls/residencehalls/furnishings.html)), you’re not allowed to take furniture out of your room because the school has no place to store it :frowning:
And I have no idea why memory foam toppers wouldn’t be allowed… I don’t think they would really check for that kind of thing.

I don’t think they’re allowed and they do actually do checks randomly. Unfortunately, some people had theirs taken away and had to find a mattress in the middle of the semester. I’m sure some people get away with it though. Honestly, just get a feather mattress. My roommate and I both used one and the RD said it was fine. Also they’re really comfortable  Unless of course the feather mattress is too expensive, I just used mine from home. I guess if its too expensive just take the risk of the foam mattress.

When burned, foam emits fumes that are extremely toxic to your body. It’s another one of BC’s fire precautions.
