I'm applying to NYU next year and i want to know your opinions about the dorms. Do you think i'll should live on-campus or off-campus ? the problem is: im applying to tisch and i need a place where i cant be interrupted because i work a lot with music production softwares, and also because i dont to annoy my roommate . also, the rooms are a little expensive , besides being to small, because i've founded apartments only 2 blocks way from tisch and they have the same price, not mentioning they're much bigger and have private bathroom. your oppinion would help :)

Generally speaking, NYU dorms versus other schools has a LOT of perks. Main ones are, AC, no communal bathrooms, and the greatest location you could ever ask for. Of course, some of these vary depending on the dorm you get.

I think that it all depends on where you’re living. Granted, living in an apartment would be nice, however you have that option later on! It’s always good to live in a dorm at least freshman year because NYU does a good job of creating a community atmosphere and you get to meet everyone else (plus it’s part of the college experience.)

If you’re concerned about the annoying your roommate w/ production software, I’d definitely recommend checking out a single bedroom dorm. While these are more expensive (and hard to get) it seems like people who request them (you have to email the NYU Residential Services) get them pretty easily. Simply explain your situation and they will probably give you priority.

Thank you !

You’ll miss out on some valuable socialization opportunities though, since the quickest way to make friends is with the people in your suite and on your floor. The upside though, is that having a private apartment will make you an easy choice for where to host a party, if you’re so inclined.
