Dorms

International Freshman. I am researching what all to buy for my dorm. Since I would only be arriving a week before orientation, I won't be having much time to buy things for college so I'm making a list which should make things easier.

I want to know what all is already in the dorms when they are handed over to us?

I have applied for a suite styled dorm, so I would also like to know how much better they are as compared to the traditional dorms.

Thanks for your help :)

All of the dorms will have a bed (most dorm rooms can be lofted or bunked but not all however in a suite you should have more room so might not need to loft/bunk), dresser, desk & desk chair. Rugs are not provided nor are refrigerators, microwaves.
Here is a link to VT’s page about a packing list - it is very extensive so feel free to delete items as they pertain to you. Christiansburg does have a Wal Mart, Staples & Office Depot so if you forget something, you can go there. If you are in suite, you should have AC. If you are in a non-AC dorm, bring a large box fan as you will need it in the beginning! Hope that helps a little
