I realize it's a longshot that anyone will know this because it's mostly applicants here, but I thought I'd try anyway.

My DD got accepted into USF and it is her first or second choice of the schools she's gotten into. We're waiting to hear from UF, and she has scheduled a visit to both USF and Eckerd (her top 2 current choices other than UF). She'll make her decision by the end of February after the visit and UF's decision.

My question is, I absolutely want her to live on campus if she goes to USF. Do I need to worry about housing not being available if I wait until the end of February? Should I go ahead and pay the $225 (registration fee and housing deposit) just in case? Is any of that refundable if she decides not to go?

Also, she is interested in the Green LLC. Is that a good dorm? Is that hard to get into? I see that applications for the LLCs are not yet available, so I guess we are safe so far.

The prepayment may be refunded if requested if you select another college if you meet the required deadlines according to the terms and conditions of the contract you signed and if you owe no other money to the university.

If you have the money, the earlier you apply for housing the better. All the dorms at USF are ok; you’ll get an approx 12’ x 15’ airconditioned room with a dresser, bed and desk in any of the dorms. I lived in Castor my freshman yr and Maple soph yr, both were fine. Most all freshmen live in dorms at USF; dorms are required for freshmen unless their family home is in immediate Tampa area a short drive to campus.

Yep, looks like Green LLC is in Maple. Maple is nice, modern design, conveniently located, functional with open lounge on each floor for dorm residents. Might be smart to phone USF housing one last time to verify all above and to avoid any surprises, never know, they might change something at last minute.

Thanks. We’ll probably wait until after the applications for the LLCs become available at this point. It sounds like, unlike UF, you can’t be completely denied housing, since they require freshmen to live on campus.

Right, you will have housing no matter what if you choose to go to USF. It’s mandatory. If you choose to refund your prepayment(of $200), I believe you do NOT receive back the application fee of $50.

if she’s considering to share a room, i suggest juniper/poplar… their buildings are newer, and rooms are nicer imo. the dining area is on the first floor, as well as the laundry area and starbucks. :)
