so let's talk about dorms

Can anybody give a rundown of which dorms have the best facilities, community (or rather, the general vibe of the community in each dorm), most convenient location? I know that I'll be going somewhere up North, but maybe if we could talk about all of them it might help people who dont have the same choice as me :)

Don’t live in Sargeant. Ever.

Elder is all freshman so it’s kind of a party dorm, and I’ve heard people like the community, but it’s not close to much. Slivka is the engineering residential college, and it’s super nice. It’s not super big on community from what I’ve heard, but it’s nice and if you want a party you can hop on over to the frats, or to Bobb. Bobb is a party dorm with pretty bad conditions, but a great community because of the conditions. Ayers CCI is really nice, and it’s the business RC, so if you’re interested in business that might be a good idea. Green house and College of Cultural studies are the only other ones up there, but I don’t know anyone in them, nor have I seen them. The NU Housing guide is really good on North By Northwestern, and there will be an even better new one up by the time you’re doing housing, if they stick with the normal timing.

Sargent is DISGUSTING. I know they now have lights, but don’t know if they did much else. Centipedes every ■■■■■■■ day (only bug I can’t stand). But the room layout is nice so you’re not a foot from your roommate.
